These presses are driven through a sealed gear box into the lower roller. The heavy wheel, combined with the gear ratio 1:6 make for a smooth action. The hard synthetic plate runs without play between adjustable guide strips, which are mounted on the side frames. Loosening the spindles makes the upper roller raise by spring pressure, in this way facilitating relief printing (lino, woodcut). Shims of leather or cardboard can be placed under the spindles, thus providing more flexibility during printing. Both upper and lower rollers are fitted with ball bearings. These presses are lightweight versions of the JW-series, enabling it to be used in places where, for floor/weight bearing reasons, the JW-series cannot be accomodated.
